RSVP
What date should I RSVP by?
Please RSVP by Friday, May 9. Note that July is high season in Greece. We would recommend booking flights and accommodation sooner rather than later.
Am I allowed to bring a plus one?
If "and guest" or your plus-one's name is written on your wedding invitation, they're invited.
Am I allowed to bring my children?
We love kids! But unfortunately this is an adults only wedding with the exception of immediate family children. Invite is limited to named guests on the invitation.
Transportation & Accommodation
What's the fastest way to get to Andros?
First, fly to Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) and take a taxi to the Port of Rafina (30 minute ride).
Second, travel by ferry from the Port of Rafina, in Athens, to Andros Gavrio Port. There isn't an airport on Andros! There are multiple ferry departures everyday. The ferry ride will range from 1-2 hours depending type of ferry. Andros will always be the first stop!
Do I really need to rent a car?
We’ve got you covered for our wedding festivities on Friday and Saturday! We’ll be arranging pickups for all of our guests. However, if you’re staying on the island for more than two days, we recommend renting a car. Andros is a large island with limited taxis and no extensive public transportation network. While some hotels might offer shuttle services, having a car will give you the freedom to explore Andros at your own pace.
Do you have hotel/accommodation recommendations?
We have listed recommended hotel/accommodations in the 'Travel' tab. Also, feel free to reach Maria Loumou (AllAboutTravel) maria@allabouttravel.gr for recommendations.
We highly recommend you stay near Chora for ease of transportation.
Dress Code
What's the dress code for the welcome party?
Island Casual. Think...sundresses, skirts, linen pants, shorts for the gals and a shorts/shirt combo for the guys. Natural fabrics, breezy. Summery colors.
What's the dress code for your wedding?
Cocktail attire. It's a balance between formal/casual, elegant/comfortable, and is meant to be a notch above everyday wear but less formal than black tie...
What's the weather like in July?
Warm and sunny weather with temperatures around 90°F (32°C) during the day. Evenings are cooler.
Wedding Ceremony & Reception
Will transportation be provided to the venues on Friday & Saturday?
YES! We’ll provide transportation to/from all wedding festivities on Friday & Saturday. Pickup times and locations will be around Chora/main town area. We’ll share more information once all guests have RSVP’ed and finalized their accommodations. If you’re arranging your own stay, please provide us with your accommodation details at osseywedding@gmail.com so we can coordinate transportation for you.
Can I come to the church ceremony and then to the reception on my own?
You can, but we don’t recommend it. Andros has curvy roads. We want everyone to have fun and be safe. Parking is also limited. If you prefer not to take the wedding shuttle, then we recommend booking a taxi in advance. If you need help booking a taxi, read through the ‘Travel’ tab.
What can I expect at the welcome party?
Casual dinner and drinks in the village of Kochylou. It'll be a very traditional greek evening.
What kind of ceremony will it be?
We'll have a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony, following the customs and traditions of Greece. It’s a unique experience, with symbolic rituals that date back centuries, including the exchanging of crowns and ceremonial blessings.
What can I expect at the wedding reception?
The reception will be held outdoors. Dinner, drinks and plenty of dancing until late in the evening (or morning hours!). We’re planning a long, fun-filled day, so make sure to get plenty of rest beforehand.
What kind of food will be served, and will there be options for vegetarians or specific dietary needs?
Greek cuisine with a variety of dishes for everyone to enjoy. If you have any specific dietary needs/allergy-related restrictions, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate you.
Fun Around the Island
Are there activities or places we absolutely should not miss on the island?
YES! Check out the 'Things to Do' tab where we have outlined our recommendations.
Do you recommend any day trips or excursions?
Definitely. If you have time, consider a boat tour. Andros has beautiful beaches that are best accessed by the sea (i.e. Achla beach), making this an excellent option for those who are up to the adventure. There are also day trips to nearby Cycladic islands via ferry or by renting a small powerboat (full or half day options avail). Contact Maria Loumou (AllAboutTravel) maria@allabouttravel.gr for more information.
